Itinerary from Piazza Navona to the Spanish Steps
This itinerary passes through Rome's historic center, leading the visitor from the spectacular architecture of Piazza Navona to the elegance of Piazza di Spagna and beyond.
The first stop is the Pantheon, one of the most iconic and best-preserved monuments of antiquity. Considered an absolute masterpiece of Roman engineering, it still amazes today with its majestic dome, the largest unreinforced concrete dome in the world. A few steps away is the Basilica of Santa Maria sopra Minerva, a rare example of Gothic architecture in the capital. In the square of the same name in front, you can admire the Pantheon. Admire the famous "Pulcin della Minerva," the graceful elephant sculpted to a design by Bernini that supports one of the city's Egyptian obelisks.
The route continues towards Piazza di Pietra, where the imposing columns of the Temple of Hadrian appear magnificently incorporated into a 17th-century building. From here, we reach Palazzo Montecitorio, the seat of the Chamber of Deputies since 1871. A few steps separate us from Piazza Colonna, dominated by the Column of Marcus Aurelius: a triumphal monument almost 42 meters high, erected between 176 and 192 AD to celebrate the emperor's victories over the Germanic peoples.
Right across the square, overlooking Via del Corso, is the Galleria Alberto Sordi, an elegant Art Nouveau shopping arcade and jewel.
The last main stop is Piazza di Spagna, one of the most scenic and famous spots in the world, a symbol of Roman luxury and elegance with its monumental Spanish Steps. You can continue along the historic Via del Babuino until you reach the grandiose Piazza del Popolo.
