Itinerary from St. Peter's Square to the Gianicolo Belvedere

The itinerary leads us to the Belvedere del Gianicolo, which offers one of the most evocative views of Rome's historic center.

The Janiculum, although not one of the seven historic hills, is considered Rome's eighth hill. The route to reach it is about 2 km, and the last uphill stretch is not easy. Once you reach Piazza della Rovere, you can continue by bus (line 115) from the nearby Lungotevere in Sassia, which easily leads to the Janiculum.

Alternatively, you can first reach the Trastevere neighborhood and from there climb the Janiculum.

The spectacular view of Rome from above is certainly worth the effort.
